Confess—sins, struggles, shortcomings (Nehemiah 9:1-3, 26-31, 36-38) to God. Nehemiah 9:1~Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the people of Israel were assembled with fasting and in sackcloth, and with earth on their heads. (ESV) Nothing leads us to revival like a spiritual bath. Last week the people were in celebration, the mood now dramatically changed. The people put on sackcloth to show the depth of their grief over their sins. Sackcloth was a coarse cloth woven from goat’s hair and worn during periods of mourning, grief, or repentance. First mentioned in Scripture when Jacob was told by his lying sons that Lil Joe was dead. Genesis 37:34~Then Jacob tore his garments and put sackcloth on his loins and mourned for his son many days.
